Leave Open My Grave

Why not leave open my grave?
So the angels can get in and get me out.
Leave open my grave
So worms can find out what I’m about
While other winged creatures reach and see me from the sky.
Leave open my grave
For whatever I might decide.

Look for underground wires. Watch out.
That’s me on your boot soles, me in your mouth.
All in your air, me in your belly, me in your hair.

Leave open my grave
You might want to visit
Cause this ain’t the last word you’ll hear from me - is it?
Leave open my grave
And lay me in gravel.
Cover me naked in ashes and raindrops
And watch me unravel. In rock you can
Register. Temple. Me. Relevant. Winter.
Leave. Open my grave.
Autumn’s over now. Don’t touch.
Just point my feet west, at least by Halloween.
And do leave the grave open
If you please.
