Clothes? Check.

I've been sleeping outside lately, usually on the porch. One of the best things about it is sleeping in my clothes, which is something I've done off and on for . . . ever.

There are two things that I like most about sleeping in my clothes. Number one -- If you're called upon suddenly, for any reason, to leap out of bed fireman style on a moment's notice, why then you're dressed for it. Number two -- When you roll out from under your warm covers, on purpose or by mistake, or if even some small part of you wanders out into the open then you don't get as cold. You might not even wake up from it if you got some clothes on, or something on your feet and your backside at least.

Both of these things I like very much. And they seem all the more relevant when I'm sleeping on the porch, of course. It's not like I live in a super-safe neighborhood. I see raccoons up in trees more often than not -- well every so often at least -- and I found a strange pair of tortoise shell sunglasses next to my compost pile just yesterday.
