1. UPCOMING SHOW
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Kirk at The Green Mesquite on Friday Night.
This should be a great show. 3 hours, under the stars. Cold beer. Succulent B-BQ. White bread, pickles, potato salad and okra. Right on. 3 hours? Yes sir. That's 40 songs folks. No cover charge. No cover tunes. He probably doesn’t even know any. “Not true!” says Kirk, “I know most of ‘Famous Blue Raincoat’ by Leonard Cohen.” Oh really? “Really. Almost all the lyrics, too.” What key is it in? “Same one as Holy Mary.” So, basically you learned it by accident, because it has the same chord progression as one of your own songs? “Yeah, so what? That still counts.” Maybe.
If there's a tune of Kirk's you love that you didn't hear at Maria’s last night, you can bet you'll hear it on Friday. The Green Mesquite, out on the patio. Kids welcome.
Warning: Several songs contain minor chords (and Christian imagery) and Kirk sings loudly on occasion.

The Clumsy Dragon – a musical written by Kirk and Lauren Collier Swindler

The Clumsy Dragon is a magical, musical, interactive play for family audiences. Along the way they receive dubious assistance from a pompous Narrator who also plays several supporting roles. The play touches on themes of loyalty, self-image and acceptance, and includes several whimsical song-and-dance numbers.

3. SUDDENLY BRIGHT OUT AT PINK
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
This salon/gallery is a testament to style. There is hair -- festive, fancy and functional -- and racks of fashion created by independent designers, most of them local. You’ll find your skin tight studded jeans, your hand-painted velvet jacket and that one-of-a-kind dress you know she’d never buy for herself but would love for you to buy for her, if you only knew her size. Damn. No worries, there's also an array of handcrafted jewelry and bad-ass purses. And Kirk’s new record -- SUDDENLY BRIGHT OUT.
Pink – Salon and Gallery
1204 S Congress Ave
Austin, TX 78704-2422

Of course you can still buy SUDDENLY BRIGHT OUT directly from us: http://www.kirksmith.net/store_cds_suddenlybrightout.shtml
Or from CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/kirksmith
But you’re on your own hair-wise.

7. GIG CALENDAR SERVICE
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
We know you scanned this section already last month -- but we still get e-mails. “I deleted Issue #4 and now I want the gig alert notification day or two whatever thingy bobber. Sign me up. Help. Hello? What do I do?”
Here’s what you do: send a single blank e-mail to calendar@kirksmith.net. We’ll do the rest.
But this is your last chance: calendar@kirksmith.net. This paragraph won’t be in Issue #6. After today (or however long you save your e-mail) you’ll have to go to the site and re-subscribe with the “gig alert” option selected. That’s still pretty easy though, isn’t it? www.kirksmith.net
